This surpasses the previous record set by fellow BTS member Jimin last month with his solo release "Face," which sold over 1.02 million copies on its first day.

"D-2" is Suga's first solo work in about three years, following his mixtape "D-2" released in May 2020. It is also the finale of a three-part series that began with his 2016 mixtape "Agust D."

The album features 10 tracks, including the title track "Daechwita," a collaboration with IU titled "Strange," and "Honsool," featuring J-Hope of BTS. Suga was responsible for writing, composing, and producing all the songs on the album.

According to Suga's agency Big Hit Music, "Daechwita" topped the iTunes "Top Songs" charts in 86 countries including the UK, Germany, and France as of 9 a.m. on the day of release. Its music video has also surpassed 10 million views.

The album "D-2" also topped the iTunes "Top Albums" charts in 67 countries worldwide, including the US, Canada, and Australia.
