A large hackberry tree standing tall in Dongbu Village in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, is becoming a hot topic. The tree, estimated to be about 500 years old, drew attention as it appeared as the so-called Sodeok-dong Hackberry in the ENA drama "Extraordinary Attorney Woo."

In the seventh episode of "Extraordinary Attorney Woo," which aired on the 20th, a hackberry tree appears in the background of Sodeok-dong, not Dongbu Village.

Sodeok-dong is a village that faced a crisis of existence due to the plan to build a road, and in the center of the village is a hackberry called "Sodeok-dong Natural Monument."

In the drama, the hackberry in Sodeok-dong boasts its dignified appearance, as it described, "No one didn't play on that tree in childhood, no one didn't hold a feast under that tree on a happy day, and no one didn't pray once when they were desperate."

After the drama was aired, the number of people visiting Dongbu Village, where "Sodeok-dong Hackberry" is located, has increased significantly. On social network services (SNS), hackberry proof shots are being posted one after another.

In Dongbu Village, there is even a hand sign saying, "Weird lawyer Woo Young-woo is on his way to Hackberry."

Park Eun-bin, who plays Woo Young-woo, the main character of the drama, also posted a photo of the tree against the backdrop on her SNS.

As people's interest in Hackberry increased, Changwon City also posted a promotional post for Dongbu Village on its official SNS.

Changwon City said on Instagram and blogs on the 22nd, "Have you seen Woo Young-woo, a strange lawyer? The hackberry tree of the Sodeok-dong episode is located in Changwon City. Feeling the lingering effects of the drama, why don't you visit Dongbu Village, where the hidden gem of Changwon is located?" he posted his address and information on the tree

According to Changwon City, the tree is behind Dongbu Village. If you go up here, you can see Dongbu Village at a glance and look down at the nearby Nakdonggang River.

The tree is estimated to be about 500 years old, and it was designated as a protected tree in the village in July 2015. At the time of designation of the protected tree, it was 680cm in circumference and 16m in height, which was large enough for four or five adults to hug, and has high preservation value due to its excellent location environment and growth condition.

In the drama, Sodeok-dong Hackberry was designated as a natural monument, but in reality, it is not yet a natural monument.
