Director Park Chan-wook's "Decision To Leave," the award-winning director of the Cannes International Film Festival, has emerged as a leading candidate for the 95th Academy Awards International Film Awards next year.

The U.S. film media IndieWire reported on the 17th (local time) that "Korea is likely to submit Park Chan-wook's 'Decision To Leave', which won the Cannes Film Awards."

The media put "Decision To Leave" as one of the eight leading candidates for the International Film Awards.

The following are expected to be nominated for the International Film Awards selected by IndieWire.

"Both Sides of the Blade" directed by Claire Deeney (France)
"Corsag" directed by Marie Croitzer (Austria)
Director Park Chan-wook of "Deciding to Break Up" (Korea)
"Holy Spider" Ali Abash (Denmark)
One Fine Morning, director Mia Hansen-Love (France)
Directed by RRR S.S. Rajamoli (India)
Tori and Lokita, directed by the Darden brothers (Denmark)
"Utama" directed by Alejandro Roaza Grish (Bolivia)

Movie fans are also interested in whether Park Chan-wook's "Decision To Leave" will win the International Film Award at the Academy Awards. Director Bong Joon-ho's "Parasite," who previously won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes International Film Festival, won four awards at the Academy Awards, including an international film award, a film award, a director award and a screenplay award.

"Decision To Leave" is a movie about Hae-hae (Park Hae-il), a detective who investigates a death case in the mountains, meeting the deceased's wife, Seorae (Tang Wei), and feeling doubts and interest at the same time.

Earlier, "Decision To Leave" raised expectations as it received rave reviews from domestic and foreign media after its first release at the Cannes International Film Festival.

It ranked first among this year's screen international films in the official daily newspaper Screen International at the Cannes Film Festival, scored 5 out of 5 in the British Guardian, and proved its work beyond national boundaries by INDIEWIRE.
