A month before the Cannes International Film Festival, which will be normalized in three years, foreign media predict that the first Korean film production by Japanese master Hirokazu Koreeda and actor Lee Jung-jae  will be officially invited. Attention is focusing on K-movie, which will inherit the baton of "Parasite," amid K-pop, "Squid Game" and "Pachinko" with group BTS at the forefront, drawing attention to K-movie.

The 75th Cannes International Film Festival will announce its official invitation on May 14 (local time) ahead of its opening on May 17-28. U.S. media Variety and Screen Daily recently drew up an expected list of major guest films, including director Park's "Resolution to Break Up" and director Koreeda's "Broker." It is predicted that the Cannes Film Festival, which has a strong tendency to honor former directors, will focus on the new films of the two directors who have won major awards at the festival in the past.

Actors Park Hae-il and Tang Wei participated in director Park's "Resolution to Break Up," while actors Song Kang-ho, Kang Dong-won, Bae Doo-na and IU will appear in director Koreeda's "Broker." In the case of Song Kang-ho, following Bong Joon-ho's "Parasite" and Park's "Bat," he will join hands with Koreeda to go out to Cannes this time.

In addition, foreign media cited director Ryu's "smuggling" and actor Lee Jung-jae's directorial debut, "Hunt," as films that are likely to be invited. Screen Daily left open the possibility, saying, "We have to wait and see if director Ryu will fit Khan's taste in this film, which is tailored to the festival's schedule for the first time in a long time." "Hunt" is also drawing keen attention in that it is Lee Jung-jae's first directing film, which has been reborn as a global star through "Squid Game."

Meanwhile, the Cannes Film Festival was canceled in the aftermath of COVID-19 in 2020, and only officially invited works were announced, and in 2021, it was postponed to July. This year, it will be revived as the Cannes Film Festival of May for the first time in three years since the glory of Parasite.
