Director Hwang Dong-hyuk mentioned the main characters in season 2 of Netflix's original series "Squid Game." Director Hwang Dong-hyuk appeared on Deadline Contenders Television at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, California on the 9th (local time).

According to the deadline, Hwang said, "Sung Ki-hoon is definitely coming back. I believe the frontman will also return.

Sung Ki-hoon, played by Lee Jung-jae, hinted at a comeback at the end of season 1. This is the first time that Lee Byung-hun, who plays the role of frontman, has mentioned his return. In past interviews, Lee Jung-jae said, "I want to act with Lee Byung-hun in season 2."

Earlier on the red carpet of the U.S. PGA Awards in March, Hwang joked to foreign reporters about the character of Kang Sae-byeok, played by Jung Ho-yeon, saying, "What about the setting that Kang Sae-byeok has twins?"

Although it was a joke, considering Jung Ho-yeon's global popularity, the possibility cannot be ruled out.

Director Hwang said, "The Squid Game has opened up a little bit. I hope that American audiences will get a chance to see this work, read subtitles, and watch it without dubbing. We are hoping that we will open up that opportunity.

Regarding his next film, "The Killing Old People Club," he said, "The project must take into account political polarization, cultural differences and difficulties, and the environmental climate change that is taking place today. We will observe, criticize and continue to deal with these topics in the future."

The Squid Game, which was released as a Netflix original series in late September last year, swept various awards, including Oh Young-soo winning the Best Supporting Actor award in the drama category at the 79th Golden Globe Awards, Jung Ho-yeon and Lee Jung-jae winning the Best Male and Female Actor (SAG) Awards, respectively.
